Industrial Painting Project

August 5th, 2008 · No Comments · Sandblasting & Painting

TMI Coatings recently cleaned and painted a 16 1/2′ diameter x 185′ high hot stack in downtown St. Paul, MN.  TMI used an industrial paint system manufactured by Hi-Temp Coatings, specifically designed for high temperatures.

Due to the location in downtown St. Paul, it was impractical to sandblast.  We pressure washed with Chlor-Rid per Hi-Temp instructions.  TMI then prepared the surface of the stack by Power Tool Cleaning to bare metal, all rusty or corroded areas.  Because the existing paint contained lead, all work was performed in accordance with OSHA 1926.62 and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s regulations.

Next, TMI applied Hi-Temp 1027 DTR primer, followed by 500 VS top coat.  Roller application of both the primer and top coat was required due to the risk for overspray.

The paint system compliments the surrounding commercial buildings due to the architect and owner’s color choices.
