The corn production room of a large vegetable processing plant in Wisconsin had a problem with peeling paint on their concrete ceiling. The concrete had been painted years ago, and the white paint was slowly chipping off and falling from the ceiling which created a problem with their food processes.
The Plant Superintendent contracted with TMI to blast the concrete ceiling with a food friendly media (walnut shells) to remove the remaining paint during the winter months when they were not operating.
All of their equipment had to be covered to protect from the dust, including floor drains, overhead sprinklers and lights. A poly curtain was hung to section off small work areas to minimize dust in other parts of the plant.
The Plant Superintendent was satisfied that all the paint was removed and a problem was solved. The Plant Superintendent has since contacted us with regard to another project at a Minnesota facility.
