Tank Lining

September 24th, 2008 · No Comments · Coatings

TMI is currently bidding on a job to line three tanks, each 40′ diameter x 25′ high.  Each tank currently holds leachate, the liquid that drains or “leaches” from a landfill.

TMI is proposing to first remove the build-up from the interior walls and ceilings of the tanks by using hand or power tools, mallets, or other equipment.  TMI will then sandblast the interior of each tank to SSPC-SP5 to create an anchor pattern for the new coating.

We are proposing to line the interior of each tank (floor, shell, ceiling and center column) with a chemical resistant high solids epoxy phenolic lining suitable for industrial maintenance.  Two full coats at 6-7 mils dft per coat would be applied for approximately 12-15 mils total dft.

Because the composition of leachate varies widely depending on the age of the landfill and the type of waste it contains, the tank lining must be suitable for a wide variety of chemicals.
