TMI Coatings recently lined two solvent storage tanks at a chemical plant. In order to confirm that the coating we were proposing was suitable for the chemicals found in the tanks, TMI mailed the customer two coupons lined with the coating material to test in the tanks for 30 days. When the testing was complete, TMI sent the coupons to the coating manufacturer for further testing. The coating performed very well and was found to be suitable.
TMI began by sandblasting the tank interiors to SSPC-SP5 to prepare the surface for the new coating material. We then applied two full coats of the lining material, force curing between coats per the manufacturer’s specifications. Finally, the crew performed a final cure for 4 hours at 200 degrees F to ensure the complete removal of solvents and odor.
