TMI Coatings was contacted by an electric power and natural gas supplier recently to repair and coat their equipment and vehicle parking garage floors. The concrete overhead in the lower level garage was deteriorating due to the salt and moisture leaking through the parking areas.
The majority of the existing waterproof parking deck coating had peeled away. To remove the remainder of the coating and prepare the floor for the new coating, TMI used our vacuum steel shotblast unit and our vacuum assisted, walk behind concrete grinding and polishing unit with diamond blades. Cracks, divots and eroded areas were filled with a cementitious resin material to restore all areas to the surrounding plane. A heavy-duty traffic deck coating was chosen for durability, longevity and to provide a waterproof finish to minimize leaks to the areas below. First a prime coat was applied, followed by a base coat. Next, the crew applied a top coat and broadcast with aggregate. A final top coat was then applied. The high solids material has a fast setting cure to reduce the customer’s downtime. TMI’s crew performed all work over weekends to minimize disruption to the customer.
