A Midwest ethanol producer contracted with TMI Coatings to line two fermenting tanks, each 35′ diameter x 36′ high. The fermenting tanks were being converted into water tanks and the owner wanted a lining material installed that is suitable for process water with the option to convert the tanks back into fermenting tanks in the future.
TMI pre-baked the tanks prior to sandblasting the interior to remove inert contaminants. After pre-baking, TMI sandblasted in accordance with SSPC-SP5. TMI ground down sharp edges inside the tank and applied two full coats specialty tank lining material suitable for both water service and fermenting corn mash service.
The owner was very satisfied with TMI’s crew and will be contacting us in the future to line another one of their tanks.
