A North Dakota grain company was having problems with moisture leaking into the bottom of their steel grain bins. This moisture was heating and subsequently molding the grain. TMI Coatings was hired to seal the exterior of their bins to prevent future moisture problems.
TMI began by removing the grain and debris from the exterior of the bins where they are set on the concrete pads. TMI then removed the old, failed sealant and prepared the surface areas so the new protective coating would adhere. A waterproofing membrane was applied to seal the concrete/steel juncture to prevent moisture from entering the bin. This protective coating is ideal for the often harsh Midwest weather because it expands and contracts in changing temperatures.
