TMI Coatings Lines The Interior Of A Condensate Tank At A Private College In The Twin Cities

June 3rd, 2011 · No Comments · Tank Maintenance

A mechanical company hired TMI Coatings to line the interior of a condensate tank at a private college in the Twin Cities.  This was a critical shut down requiring work be completed in the shortest amount of time.  Because the condensate tank was a part of the heating system at the college dormitories and many college students were going to be away over the Easter holiday, the client felt it was a good time to complete the tank lining.

Friday morning, TMI began sandblasting the interior of the tank.  TMI completed sandblasting on Saturday, removed abrasive/blew down the tank and tested the profile.  Sunday morning, TMI applied putty to the pitted areas to restore deep pits prior to applying the second coat to the interior of the tank and force curing.  TMI completed the project by noon on Sunday which gave the owner plenty of time to do any maintenance that had to be done prior to start up Monday morning.  Joe Pallansch, the site contact, commented that TMI’s supervisor was very professional, courteous and he was also happy with TMI’s workmanship, clean up and completing work within the timeline.

May 20th, 2011 · No Comments · Ceiling & Wall Coatings, Sandblasting & Painting

This spring, TMI Coatings did a job for one of the world’s largest privately held milling companies in the world. This project done in Houston, Texas is to clean and paint seven stories of a mill stairwell including the ceilings, walls and steps.

TMI began by cleaning all surfaces to prepare for the new paint coating adhesion. All bare steel was primed and two coats paint coating was applied to all the concrete and metal surfaces. This included painting walls and doors, diamond plate floor, landings, staircases and the underside of the cases.

The result is a clean, bright stairwell with no corrosion or loose and flaking paint. Sandy the plant manager said, “It is looking very nice!”

TMI Helps Manufacturer with Their Ponding and Slipping Floor Areas

May 9th, 2011 · No Comments · Industrial Flooring

A Wisconsin manufacturer of food products was having problems with water running out of rooms and forming puddles in the center of their Clean Room. This excess water developed into a potential slipping hazard for employees.

TMI solved this problem by sloping floors toward existing drains making it easier to clean and drain efficiently. We then applied TMI CHEM-RESIST, a slip resistance finish to provide a safe, non-skid surface for employees. Dan O’Brian, Project Manager, said. “The floors are great; we are very pleased with them.”

Meyers Printing Improves Old, Ugly Floor with CHEM-RESIST

May 3rd, 2011 · No Comments · Industrial Flooring, TMI CHEM-RESIST

Meyers Printing, a promotional products printer located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, had a very old and unattractive floor in the production area of their print shop. The vinyl tiles were outdated, worn and ugly. TMI removed the tiles and installed an epoxy floor coating to improve the aesthetics, as well as make floor much easier to clean.

Taking special care to make sure all drains were professionally covered and taped prior to applying the first coat, TMI prepared the flooring surface to ensure the proper adhesion of subsequent floor coatings and applied the TMI CHEM-RESIST flooring system. Wayne Niles, Meyers Supervisor, gave rave reviews and said, “The floor was the most beautiful floor I have ever seen.”

TMI Repairs Clarifier At Water Treatment Facility in Temple, Texas

April 29th, 2011 · No Comments · Sandblasting & Painting

The City of Temple, Texas awarded TMI Coatings refurbishing one of the clarifiers at their water treatment facility in Temple, TX. TMI began the job by pressure washing to remove excess dirt and stains and then sandblasted the metal surfaces below the water to SPPC-SP10 in preparation for painting. Holes in the clarifier bell and rotating drum required welding prior to sandblasting. A prime coat was applied and the area was painted.

When the TMI crew was finished they had extended the life of its clarifier and provided corrosion protection for many years to come.

In evaluating TMI and the completed job, Johnny Reisner, Superintendent of the City of Temple, said, “Communication with the crew was great.” And in evaluating the overall service of the job, gave TMI excellent marks in quality of work, efficiency of the crew, service, cleanliness of the site and communication.

Community Involvement

April 5th, 2011 · No Comments · TMI Community Service

A TMI Coatings’ employee volunteers her time at the Eagan Resource Center food shelf, and she encouraged fellow employees to give back to the community during March (Minnesota Food Share Month).  Since March 1st, TMI’s employees have brought canned goods and other non-perishable food products to our Eagan office.  In addition to these donations, TMI offered a 10:1 match for all cash donations up to $1,000.  TMI employees donated $183 in cash and the company matched that with another $1,000.  It feels good to give!  We are glad to help others in need.

Industrial Tank Lining and Coating

March 1st, 2011 · No Comments · Tank Maintenance

Last summer, TMI Coatings took on a job for a Wisconsin-based mechanical contracting and tank fabricating company. A two compartment large tank for a chemical storage company required new protective coating and insulation.

TMI began by spot tool cleaning the weld seams and damaged shop applied coating on the tank exterior before applying primer, then 2” of spray-applied urethane foam insulation to the tank shell, and finally an acrylic top coat for weather protection.

For the interior tank linings, TMI sandblasted and applied three layers of multi-purpose epoxy coating to the tank itself.  Underneath the tank lid, TMI touched up weld spots by hand and treated the whole area with two layers of epoxy coating.

When the TMI Coatings crew was finished, the two tanks had good corrosion protection for many years of service.
